Our Services and fees are listed below. If you decide to entrust your writing or editing needs to us, you can be assured that we will go the extra mile to meet, and hopefully exceed, your expectations. When proofreading and editing, we don't go through your project just once. Although the procedure varies depending on the need, we always review each piece at least twice, and usually more.
The amounts listed below are our customary fees. When you contact us by using the form or sending an we will discuss your needs and expectations. We will ask you to send a sample of your project. Then together we will select the level of editing that best fits your project and preferences.

Our Fees
Two variables on the fees:
If more than 10 scripture references are to be verified, add .5 cents (one-half cent) to the per word rate.
Prices below are for standard copy like articles and book manuscripts. Rates for specialty genre like children's books (see pricing below), poetry, plays, and website copy will vary.
Proofreading
Final review of manuscript before printing. Check for consistency, typos, spelling, punctuation and grammar. 1.6 cents per word. Minimum $20.00.
Copyediting
Proofread for consistency, typos, spelling, punctuation and grammar. Check for sense and clarity, choice of words, sentence structure and redundancies. 2.5 cents per word. Minimum $25.00.
Comprehensive Editing
Includes copyediting (see above). Also rewrite/rework text organization, transition, readability and style. Care is taken to maintain author's voice, style, and message. 4 cents per word. Minimum $30.00.
Rewriting
Everything described in the comprehensive editing level but with more extensive reworking and rewriting. Starts at 5 cents per word. Minimum $35.00.
Writing
Since many variables are involved here, these rates could change. Smaller writing projects (including most Websites) will usually run 25 to 30 cents/word. We will consider a lower rate for larger projects.
Editing Children's Books
All editing of children's books will be done by Dixie Phillips, published children's author. Final proofreading by Karen Burkett. Services include the following:
Proofread for spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, grammar, and use of words
Check for consistency
Check for age-appropriate vocabulary and content
Check for sense and clarity, sentence structure, and general choice of words
Rewrite/reorganize plot development
Work with author to be sure the scriptural message is clear
Up to 1000 words: $75. Over 1000 words: Additional fee to be determined.
Typesetting
Personalized typesetting services. Our graphic designer, Shannon Herring does all our typesetting. She says, "When typesetting a book, I want to apply the rules of typesetting but not let the rules stand in the way of making the inside as personal and creative as the outside. I don't want everyone's book to look the same on the inside. I like to apply designer fonts and graphics that can attract, but not distract, a reader." Shannon will also recommend printers and work out the technical details with the printer you select. Two and one-half cents per word. (Due to variations in typesetting needs, some miscellaneous charges may apply.)
Cover Design
Whether you want a standard design or something more uniquely you, consider our cover design services. Shannon Herring does our cover design work. Here are her comments: "I enjoy working closely with the clients to get a feel for their personality and project and strive to create an end product that depicts both. I not only want to get the reader's attention, but I also want the cover design to draw the reader into picking up the book to find out what treasures lie inside."
Want illustrations throughout your book? Christian Artist Laureen Caponigro does our illustrating. Whether you are writing for children or adults, Laureen will work with you to bring your words to life in pictures.
Do you need a Web page to promote your book? Or perhaps a complete Website? Please consider our personalized Website design services. We build our author web pages on Blue Host. We contract with you to build the Web page and you sign up directly with Blue Host to host your site.
When you initially contact us, we will ask for a sample of your project. Based on our review of that, we will recommend the level of service that seems most appropriate.
We will email you a simple contract that you can accept by email.
Word count charges will be based on the edited manuscript and counted electronically with Microsoft Word.
Payment may be made by PayPal or credit card. Generally, for projects totaling $100 or less, one half is due with the contract and the balance on satisfactory completion. For projects totaling more than $100, normally we will ask for one-third in advance, one-third when approximately half the work is complete, and the balance on completion. Click on "Pay Now" to make a payment.
Your completed project will be returned to you by email. For edited work, you will receive two attachments: one "tracking version that will show all the edits made and one more easily read "clean" version.
Unless otherwise indicated in your contract, you may return completed project one time within seven days of receipt for revisions at no extra charge.
